What Makes IAPVC 2025 So Special?

For over a decade, IAPVC has been one of the most respected platforms for wildlife photography in Southeast Asia. What sets this year apart is the expanded focus on video storytelling, the inclusion of social media categories, and roadshow sessions across three safari parks. It’s designed for photographers, videographers, and digital creators who are passionate about nature and want their work to make an impact.

Competition Categories: Something for Everyone

IAPVC 2025 features six exciting categories, each tailored to different styles and age groups:

  1. General (Photo/Video): Open to all ages. Submissions can be captured in natural habitats or within Taman Safari.
  2. Kids (Photo): For budding wildlife photographers under 15. A great category to encourage young talent.
  3. Endemic Species (Photo): Highlight the beauty of Indonesia’s native wildlife — from orangutans to birds of paradise.
  4. Roadshow Category: Photos taken during the official IAPVC roadshows at Solo Safari, Taman Safari Bogor, and Prigen.
  5. Social Media Category (Reel/Feed): Submit a 1-minute vertical video or carousel post — perfect for creators on Instagram.
  6. Short Documentary Video: A 1–3 minute video that tells a deeper story about wildlife, conservation, or animal behavior.

  • Videos must to be in high definition; 1080p is the minimum recommended.
  • Deadline for submission: September 30, 2025

Expert Advice: How to Win at IAPVC

Renowned photojournalist Arbain Rambey, one of this year’s head judges, offered some advice on what constitutes a successful entry:

“More than just clear focus and decent lighting is what we’re looking for. The winning piece will depict the unvarnished reality of the animal kingdom along with emotion and movement.“

Here are some pro tips for participants:

  • Be patient. Great wildlife photography comes from waiting — sometimes hours — for that perfect moment.
  • Understand your subject. Learn about animal behavior to predict unique actions or interactions.
  • Choose the right gear. A telephoto lens (200mm and up) is your best friend for safety and quality.
  • Natural light over flash. Avoid stressing animals. Early morning and late afternoon offer soft, dynamic lighting.
  • Tell a story. Whether in a single frame or a video sequence, make sure your work has a beginning, middle, and emotional end.

The Roadshow Experience: Shoot on Location

To give participants more access to wildlife moments, IAPVC is holding roadshows with hands-on photo experiences and expert workshops in:

  • Solo Safari (June 2025)
  • Taman Safari Bogor (July 2025)
  • Taman Safari Prigen (August 2025)

These events include live photography sessions, portfolio reviews, conservation talks, and exclusive access to photo zones. Images taken at these events are eligible for the Roadshow Category, so make sure to bring your gear.

Why Join? Big Prizes, Bigger Impact

Aside from the glory and exposure, winners will take home generous cash prizes, camera equipment, and the opportunity to have their work showcased in major exhibitions, online galleries, and conservation campaigns. Some top contributors will even be invited to join exclusive field expeditions with TSI’s conservation team.

Joining IAPVC is not just about building your portfolio. It’s about making your work count — for nature, for education, and for future generations.
